Why Children Should Obey and Honor Parents?

Children need to obey and honor parents because it is the right thing to do. In fact, children of all ages should respect those who are older than them.

"Be submissive to those who are older. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up."  (1 Peter 5:5-6)

When we obey our parents we are honoring God and when we honor our parents we are essentially respecting them for being our parents. I do know that sometimes it can be difficult to respect and obey a parent if they are going through emotionally troubles of their own, but it is precisely at these times when our parents NEED us. This is why God asks us to go to Him for comfort and peace and He will guide us and help us to do what is right. God is your strength and refuge in times of troubles.

"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." (Galatians 6:2)
