Columnist for "In the Lead" Tel Asiado interviewed Frank and Angie Lewis of Heaven Ministries. Their husband-and-wife team launched this online marriage and Bible study ministry in 1996, established under the umbrella of Jesus Christ. They have been happily married for 23 years and together they have three wonderful sons.

Frank and Angie, tell us about yourself and your ministerial involvement.

Frank: We established Heaven Ministries, a marriage and family ministry online in 1996. Angie, my wife, is the main writer and web designer for the ministry. I am directly involved in the offline ministry as minister and editor. I enjoy counseling and educating people who are seeking options for the establishment and administration of their ministries. We plan on extending this service to the online community in the near future.

What has been most challenging to you as a Christian leader, primarily in your online Ministry?

F & A: We have found that it is very challenging to find which ways are most effective in helping people. This online information age is an impersonal medium compared to meeting people in person, and it can be somewhat challenging ministering to people over the Internet. We are experimenting with online video and audio conferencing at this time. We are hoping it may bring back the personalization that the Internet is missing.

Angie, as a partner with Frank your husband in this ministry, were you already active in Christian ministry before you got married?

Angie: I married my husband when I was 19, and at that time, I did not know who God was. Over the years, our marriage had its own trials and tribulations, separating three times before we realized what our life was missing. Fifteen years ago we accepted Jesus Christ into our lives and we grew spiritually together in the Lord. Today, we live the good life with our three sons, ages 16, 17, and 22.

Do you have other Christian related-pursuits apart from your partnership with your husband?

Angie: I write the marriage column for two online Christian Magazines, "Keepin On" and Ezra Web.

How about your children? Are they active in Christian activities too?

Frank: Heaven Ministries is a family ministry and everyone makes their own contribution to it according to their gifts. Our two youngest sons do all the graphic design, logos and artwork. I anchor and motivate behind the scenes. I would often tell my wife about a new cleanse or healing remedy that I would like her to write about and put on the website. I love organic gardening and bee hiving and we plan on adding these additions to the ministry as well.

Who or what was the greatest influence in your decision to be active in Christian ministry?

F & A: Our belief in Jesus Christ has provided us with many wonderful blessings in our life, and we feel we have been called to pass these blessings along to others. This is where individual talents and gifts come from. We all have talents and abilities that God gives us and we believe those gifts should not remain hidden from others. God encourages us to serve one another.

What do you consider the difficulties you face, and what helps you persevere?

F & A: We live in an unchristian world where God has been taken out and forgotten. There is a persistent underlying hostility and confusion which can make it difficult at times to persevere, but you tend to develop patience with it over time. One of the greatest difficulties we face is in the politics of religion. Jesus Christ is about love and loving others -- this is the whole theme of the New Testament, and yet the people are so busy being religious they don't have time to have a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ. We continually have to remind ourselves that we cannot save the world.

What do you find fulfilling in your ministry?

F & A: Seeing the fruits. When people come back to tell us we have helped them in some way. The glory all goes to God! We are only His messengers.

Do you have anything else to say to Keepin' On readers?

F & A: Keep searching and keep feeding on the age old truth - "Seek and ye shall find." In this information age it is now easier than ever before to grow in wisdom and knowledge. There is nothing wrong with the Internet when we are searching for God's truth and wisdom for ourselves and family. Let us always be discerning in what we read and hear. Keep up the good fight and not to relent in our search. Stay faithful! God bless.
